Frostgun Invitational: Results and Highlights

Photo: Jesper Gronnemark

After an evening of some serious excitement in Val D’Isere, it was Canadian Alex Bellemare who took home 1st place at this year’s Frostgun Invitational. Snow fall slightly delayed the  start of the competition, but it wasn’t long before it was all underway on the massive channel gap kicker. In the qualifying round 25 of the world’s best riders battled it out, with two runs each and the best score going forward. This resulted in the top 10 going through to the semis, with two heats of five riders.  In these finals the format changed to a jam session, with a max of 5 jumps each and the best two counting towards their overall score. The semis resulted in the top 6 progressing through the finals and here are the results and tricks they stomped:

1) Alex Bellemare (CAN):
Left double cork 1260 double japan
Switch left double rodeo 1080 japan

2) Johan Berg (NOR):
Left double cork 1260 mute to japan
Switch left double cork 1080 bow and arrow

3) Vincent Gagnier (CAN):
Switch right cork 1260 mute
Right bio 900 genie octograb

4) Jonas Hunziker (SUI):
Switch left double flat 900 double japan
Left double cork 1080 double mute

5) PK Hunder (NOR):
Left double cork 1080 mute
Left double cork 1260 japan

6) Alexander Aurdal (NOR):
Switch left double cork 1260 high mute
Left double cork 1080 mute

As you can see, this event was definitely a crowd pleaser. At one point Alex Bellemare lost his ski during a Double Cork 12 and still managed to land it cleanly on his one ski! Check out the highlights video below.
