Relentless Freeze Festival – Results

Well, what a weekend that was. For all of you that were lucky enough to be at Battersea last weekend, you probably ended up seeing some pretty good skiing. With a rider list of Elias Ambuhl, Jon Olsson, Bobby Brown, Russ Henshaw to name a few, we were always in for one hell of a time.

Before we get onto the Saturday and Sunday festivities we’ll focus all our attention on the Ski Union Battle of Britain which took Freeze by storm. With the snow starting to melt the comp had to be pushed back a few hours for urgent repairs. Luckily enough, the crack team managed to patch up the war torn kicker and we were underway.

As soon as we have video highlights, we’ll throw them up but for now, you get the winners list:

1st – James Woods
2nd – Joseph Tomlinson
3rd – James Woods

4th – Andy Bennett
5th – Julian Ball
5th – James Webb
5th – Andy Matthew
5th – Joe Hides
9th – Hector Barbour
10th – Nathan Connolly

Saturday saw the FIS Ski Practice and the guys decided that they needed to put on a show! Favourite trick of the evening seemed to be the double corked 10 but the notable shouts have to go to Jon Olsson & Colby West for hitting the kicker at the same time. They even managed to get a third involved and turned the crowd into a fireworks watching bunch with the ooh’s and ahh’s ringing out. With this being practice, it was a taste of things to come on Sunday and they certainly didn’t disappoint!

With a jump like this facing you, how many of you would throw yourself down forwards, let alone switch?! Well that’s what some of the skiers were doing by Sunday night and it definitely paid off for them. Throughout the quarterfinals was the infamous double cork 10s everywhere but Jacob Wester decided that a double cork 12 was the only way to go and that saw him all the way through to the finals.
With the finals being the best run from two, Jacob Wester took the spoils with his double cork 12 and Jon Olsson followed him in second place by stomping a double cork 1080.
Henrik Harlaut took his first run and went with that after stomping a switch double cork 10 as his second run didn’t end quite so well.
