Award Winning JOB IN SPACE is now available on iTunes!

Freeski fans from across the globe will be very happy to hear the news that one of the best freeski movies of the season is now available for purchase online from the iTunes store. Winner of the “Best European Movie” and “Coup de Coeur” awards at the International Freeski Festival in Annecy and Montreal respectively, GORE-TEX® JOB In Space presented by Marker Völkl, went on sale from the online media store as of yesterday. Whilst made up of five segments, viewers are advised to watch out for the fifth and final one, which was voted “Best Segment” by audiences and judges on the movie’s tour.

The International Freeski Film Festival was the chosen venue for the final screening of GORE-TEX® JOB In Space presented by Marker Völkl and the film was very well received by the audience, who met it with ecstatic cheering. For those that are new to the Junkies On a Budget project, each film features five segments, with each segment directed by a different filmmaker on a budget of €15,000. After each screening of a JOB film, the audience is asked to vote on what they felt was their favourite segment, with the overall winner receiving the prize of a BMW X1 for the rest of the season. This time around, overwhelming favourite throughout the tour was German newcomer Daniel Seideneder, who was voted favourite at the tour’s first five stops.

The tour was an overwhelming success and there is a growing consensus across Europe that the JOB concept has plenty of potential and a bright future ahead. It was evident that the tour was highly anticipated by freeski enthusiasts, with screenings packed out and some spectators forced to sit in the aisles at both the Stockholm and Innsbruck events. In Innsbruck, the final stop on the tour, the votes collected over the entire tour were tallied, with Daniel Seideneder eventually being crowned as the deserving victor. He and his crew were lauded by the judges for their innovative use of miniature time-lapse effects of the Nine Knights castle and ultra slow motion footage, as well as for their sleek editing and great sound. This did raise a few eyebrows though, when many in attendance learned that this was Seideneder’s first attempt at capturing or editing freeski footage, but many will now be hoping that it won’t be the last.

Whist having someone from outside of the freeski industry win the award for “Best Segment is a little suprising, it still quintessentially sums up the Junkies On a Budget ethos; it’s about breaking boundaries and finding new ways to approach established ventures. For those who haven’t seen the movie yet, you have to see it to fully understand it. Check it out at one of the remaining dates of the JOB premier tour – dates can be found on the JOB facebook page – or alternatively, you have the option of watching it on the internet. To accompany the online release there is an exclusive 24-hour online premier on redbull.com and following this, the movie will be available on iTunes in HD. Don’t miss it!
