The Brits 2012

The weeklong winter festival is back for its 23rd year, and it is set to be bigger and better than before. Spectators are set to be treated to some amazing action from some of the UK’s best skiers and snowboarders as the contestants battle it out for the highest honours in the British ski calendar.
Taking place between the 18th-25th March, thousands of snow extremists, families and beginners alike will head to Europe’s leading freestyle resort, Laax in Switzerland for a week long party of live music, DJ’s and spectacular ski action.

Crowned the Godfather of freestyle, Laax boasts four new snow parks, the largest half pipe in Europe and endless obstacles and kickers which are bound to shake things up a bit this year.

Last year Natalie Silkstone, 14, stunned everyone when she astonishingly got silver in the women’s half pipe and this year fans are waiting in full anticipation to see what she can do.

This festival is not just about the incredible freestyle skiing but also the music, the atmosphere and your own time on the slopes. With 220km of pistes as well as the Vorab glacier reaching a height of 3018m there is plenty of snow-assured runs for you and your friends to explore.

In addition, there is a new ‘Sledgercross’ course. Throughout the week BRITS wristband holders will attempt the log an individual time that will see them make it into the head-to-head race on Saturday. This ridiculous and reckless event which includes rollers, whoops and gap-jumps is great fun for everyone.
The fantastic line up has already been announced and includes a punk dress up on the Thursday, so be prepared for high Mohawks and tight tartan pants. Some of the acts include DJ Cheeba and DJ Yoda as well as plenty more live music acts. Swiss Reggae legends Idren Sounds will be laying down the backing track at Larnags mountain restaurant where BRITS wristband holders can expect discounts on food and beer all week.

Booking a ski holiday last minute can sometimes give you a better deal at a cheaper price, meaning you have more money left over for après-ski drinks. Week- packages for the festival currently start from £295 which includes seven night’s accommodation, seven day lift pass and a BRITS event wristband.
