Photo: Relentless Freeze

It’s not often that we get to this time of the year, hit Relentless Freeze and it’s not as cold as it should be. This year however, I’m at Freeze and it is by name as it is nature – it’s fucking cold! With the jump looking as spectacular as it always does the Ski Union Battle of Britain got underway.
There was a whole host of riders showcasing the talent from the Isles that I call home but there was one noticeable absence – James Woods.

The idea of the Battle of Britain is that we invite the top 16 British riders to show the rest of the world how we do it. The top 3 qualify for the International Big Air competition and get to battle it out with some of the world’s freeskiing best.

After one of the craziest battles we’ve seen in recent years, the already-qualified Paddy Graham took the top spot and was followed by James Webb in second, and Andy Bennett in third. Third, fourth and fifth places were separated by a point each so it was all pretty close going up until the end!
