19/03/09 (Jamie) So there we were again, Verbier, on Dave (park shaper and future blogger) and Phil’s (ski coach and nutter extraordinaire) floor. We spent the last few days there, trying to seek out the last remaining patches of decent snow, that are yet to be baked by the sun. They seem to be few and far between, but those small areas we did find were pretty good.
I also put on a pair of park skis for the first time this season, and went to check out Dave’s handiwork. The rail line is good this year, and they are working on some kickers that give onto a backdrop of the whole of the valley, fingers crossed we can persuade Verbier to let us have a sunset session there later in the season – we’ll keep you posted on that. We also had a look at the famous Bec des Rosses, which will be the stage for the grand finale of the World Freeride Tour this Sunday. As always it is looking pretty intimidating, but the amount of snow this season should make for a sick final. We’ll get you videos and pictures as and when we can.
On our last night we went a bit mental in the Farinet and bumped into James Blunt and World Superbike champion, Carl Fogharty. I wish I could tell you something exciting about this, but to be honest I don’t really remember much.
We’re currently over in Davos, and have been over to Laax to check out the qualifiers of the slopestyle and pipe at the European Freeski Open. Finals are this weekend, we’ll be posting a report and photos soon.
