European Freeski Open by Swatch 2010 Halfpipe is cancelled

Sadly, due to the weather conditions up on Crap Sogn Gion mountain a new halfpipe champion could not be crowned here at the European Freeski Open by Swatch in LAAX yesterday, so the most prestigious freeski event in the Alps, will have to wait till next year to find a worthy champ!

Not even the efforts of the blue spray 'Ghostbuster' boys could ensure the halfpipe comp would run (c)Stadler
Anais Caradeux on course before the wind got too much...(c)Stadler

The strong winds would not allow for the running of a safe competition as the risk of an accident for one of the 48 men and 12 women was too high. The world’s top riders (e.g. Simon Dumont, Virginie Faivre, Anais Caradeux, Kevin Rolland, Xavier Bertoni ect.) as well as the qualified amateur skiers, who were here to compete in the 5th edition of the European Freeski Open in LAAX, fully agreed with the decision of the organizer and will return in 2011.

Kevin Roland gives it a go, but finally it was decided that the wind was just too stong (c)Stadler
