So some of you are probably wondering why there has been no news from the Freeride World Tour. Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions the event has been postponed until Monday.

The good news is that it has been snowing in Krasnaya Polyana, and yesterday there was a reported 35cms of fresh at the top. The forecast was for a window in the weather today (Saturday), but it was not expected to be long enough to run the competition. The organisers had- decided to run a demo session with $1000 up for grabs and a heli trip for one boarder and one skier with the results not counting toward the Nissan World Tour Rankings, but unfortunately the window has not arrived as predicted and they have had to call the demo off. However some of the riders have not let the conditions ruin their fun and have been lapping up the fresh conditions in the trees – there is a gallery of shots on the Freeride World Tour website.

The Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch still has two reserve days possible for competition. The clear weather windows for both Sunday and Monday seem to be much better options with the possibility of a heli-ski access to a face with over 400 vertical meters for the run. Fingers crossed the event will be able to run before the reserve days are up. In the meantime here is larger than life Glen Plake and his unique look at goings on so far.
