A total of 27 riders (20 men and 7 women) were dropped on the top of Mac Face in Revelstoke. It’s the most challenging and technical face in Revelstoke so was the perfect location for the competition.
The weather was proving to be the main obstacle as the Patrollers heli bombed the mountain with little results. As the terrain was tested it seemed that hand charges needed to be placed for extra safety against avalanches. Once this was complete and the mountain was deemed safe, the women went up for the first runs.
After a hotly contested competition, Leah Evans took the win with a combined score of 66.16. Even though she skied a conservative (some might say tame) line, she was the only female to stay on their feet so it was a well-deserved win. In second was Tatum Monod with a score of 46.90 and following her in third was Nicole Derksen. She notched up a score of 42.10 and earned her a bronze position.
