Red Bull Playstreets 2011

After a two year break Red Bull Playstreets returned to the streets of Bad Gastein. The crowd was pumped and ready to go, along with all of the riders and they showed the world what it had been missing. After a hectic qualifying day it was now down to a knockout. Whoever won, progressed and one of the quarterfinals held the two best riders of the day; Elias Ambuhl and Markus Eder. Fresh off his victory at the Mayrhofen Freeski Open Markus was looking to add to his tally of wins but Elias had other ideas. In true form of the battle the judges awarded Elias the win and separated the skiers by less than one point! Imagine how the final would have been if these two progressed all the way?!

In the semi-finals the format changed as the riders could only take one run and it had to be a good one. With one semi-final being between local boy Lukas Brucic and Antti Ollila, the pressure was certainly one. Lukas didn’t land cleanly on his run which left the door wide open for Antti to go through. Elias took on Jossi Wells as Jossi continued his comeback on the ski trail. Elias knocked out Jossi to set up a final with Antti Ollila.

You’ll see from the video who won but it’s clear to see that Elias Ambulh was the deserved winner!
