International freeskiing sensation, Bobby Brown, will give Aussie riders a run for their money when he comes to Thredbo for the Toyota One Hit Wonder Down Under competition, this September 14th – 18th.
As a supporter of the Toyota One Hit Wonder, Salomon were invited to put forward one of their team riders to compete in Australia’s most watched skiing and snowboarding big-air event. They’ve nominated Brown, the 18 year-old from Colorado, who in one short season, has gone from a promising freshman to the man to beat in big-air competition. Earlier this year he made history when he became the first to win two events (slopestyle and big-air) in the Aspen Winter X Games. “I’m pumped to be heading Down Under! I can’t think of a better way to spend my off-season than Thredbo in the spring-time,” says Brown.
Brown will be competing alongside other hand-picked big-name Australian and international riders aiming to secure the best ‘one-hit’ in front of the cameras. “Having an international pro of Brown’s caliber in our mountains is a first for Australia and no doubt will push our own athletes out of their comfort zone.” Comments editor of Powderhound magazine, Christie Dowling; “The Powderhound lenses will be front-row to capture the spectacle.”
Each finalists best ‘one-hit’ from the event is filmed and uploaded to www.onehitwonderevent.com, where Australians have until the 10th October to vote and decide which Toyota One Hit Wonder skier and snowboarder will share in a $10,000 prize pool. Voters also go into the draw to win the ‘Ultimate Winter Package’. This includes an all-expenses-paid holiday to Niseko Japan for two valued at $6,200, thanks to DEEP POWDER TOURS Ski Holidays, plus a complete Salomon ski and snowboard equipment package valued at $3,800.
