It will take a long time for anyone to forget Friday night’s Oakley Jib-Vid 2010 projection party. The standard of filming, editing and riding in every single film was absolutely incredible, and the crowd packed into the Arena Nightclub were extremely vocal in their support for all the films; introduced by the MC team of Jon Weaver and Jay Stephenson. The level of riding, filming and editing has come a long way in the past 6 years; and all the teams submitted a film that many wouldn’t believe was fully created in just 28 hours.
However, as they say in Highlander, there can be only one, and this year the top prize of 5,000 euros and engraved Oakley Crowbar goggles went to the Onboard Team of Tom Elliot, Fredrik Evenson and Ethan Morgan. Their incredible film, also winning the best filming and best editing awards, was stylish, professional and humorous and featured sick riding from Freddie and Ethan, the perfect combination for a Jib-Vid, making the Onboard Team worthy winners.
Here is the winning film from Onboard:

Tom, along with teammate Freddie from the 2009 winning team, now join an exclusive club of multiple-time Jib-Vid winners, which includes both the 2nd and 3rd place teams’ helmsmen. Adam Gendle returned to Jib-Vid after a 2 year absence to bag 2nd place along with team partners Scott McMorris and Tyler Chorlton in the Oakley Snowboard team. Their film was absolutely hilarious and featured 2 tricks in particular from Tyler that have to be seen to be believed. The team also bagged the awards for Most Creativity and Most Stoked.
The 1st and 2nd places were separated in the judging by just 0.3 of a percent; the closest final in Jib-Vid history.
Hot on the heels of Oakley Snowboard was another multiple time winner, Johno Verity. Bringing his patented brand of humour to proceedings; the Animal team gave a masterclass in the use of slow motion; showcasing the huge talent of Paddy Graham and James Webb.
In 4th place was a hugely popular film from the most ambitious man to enter Jib-Vid. After his 3D attempt last year, Richard “Prendi” Prendergast absolutely outdid himself in technicality by using over 30 cameras to recreate the Matrix, snowboard style. The GoPro / Forum film used bullet time to highlight the riding of Mario Kaepelli to incredible effect.
5th place was certainly a crowd favourite as local boys Flo Heim, Julian Pinterelli and Alex Walch created a story of two lifelong enemies fighting against each other in everything they do. Featuring a creative wallride that would make it into any snowboard movie.
The award for Best Trick in a movie was won by the hottest British skier out there today; James Woods. Woodsy was absolutely killing it in the Unity Productions film and highly deserved the 150 euros, backpack and Oakley Despatch sunglasses for his awesome Switch Double Cork 1080.
Honourable mentions have to go to some of the other memorable films. In their first Jib-Vid appearance, Andy Nudds, Billy Morgan and Will Nangle just missed out on the final; though with a film that features a huge array of double flips, insane rails and 2 attempts at a Triple Flip (yes, you read that right, a triple flip from a British snowboarder, Billy Morgan); the Westbeach / Whitelines film is sure to be an internet phenomenon.
Not knowing how to capture or edit footage would be an insurmountable hurdle for most people attempting to make a 120 second short film in just 28 hours. However somehow the Screamin’ Semen team of Freeski legend Pat Sharples, Joe Tyler and Jamie Matthew; coming in at the very last minute to replace an injured team, managed to create a hugely entertaining film about the history of freestyle skiing from its roots in the 70s through to the twintip revolution.
There are so many more memorable films, the only way to truly appreciate them is to check out each and every film from the event.
The winning film is available now with the remaining 17 to be available over the next few days at the Jib Vid site.
