Britain’s Got Skiers back for another year!

Britain’s Got Skiers is back for another year and it’s ready to showcase the depth of talent we have in our country. With the likes of James Woods and Katie Summerhayes (hopefully) representing Great Britain at the next Winter Olympics, the search for talent in this country has never been greater. If you’re interested in winning big for your hidden freeskiing talents then I would suggest reading the press release below! And also, read below for info about the exclusive download we’ll be having on Ski Union!

Once again this autumn will see the return of the BGS (Britain’s Got Skiers) film for the 4th consecutive year. The competition continues grow, showcasing some of the newest and best of the British freeskiing scene including entries featuring the now No.1 World Cup slopestyle skier James Woods.

But it isn’t just for the greatest skiers in the country, that’s the beauty of this competition. All it takes is a little bit of stoke. Just 3 minutes of skiing from this summer or the previous season, and put into a short film. It doesn’t matter if it’s a backcountry adventure in Scotland, indoor park riding in the UK, epic steep descents, mellow powder days or even intense ski-cross action. It’s not only about the riding content, this comp is as much about the editing as the riding. Anyone with a camera and an editing suite on their computer is encourage to have a go. We just want to see films that get the viewer amped and remind them why skiing means something to them.

Prizes are available for best overall edit (£500 cash) and runner up, best skier under 16 (GoPro Helmet Camera), a Judges Special Prize based on creativity (GoPro Helmet Camera), best female and best slam. Last year saw numerous freeride edits, so this year we are introducing a new freeride category for unsponsored skiers (Pair of Movement Crew skis, plus clothing and the scope for further sponsorship from Movement). In addition to these prizes there will be monthly spot prizes run through the BGS face book page too.

Entrants must enter by uploading there final edits onto our BGS Facebook site, with the best edits being chosen at the end of August. This site is available to view with all the entries as the competition progresses. Once the finalist’s edits have been selected, they will be produced into a movie which will be produced by our in-house editor, Eddie ‘Slavemonkey’ Thelwell, for the premier and general release at the London Ski Show. Finalist’s edits included in the film will be announced weekly over the month of September and shown on the Ellis Brigham website. The overall winners of their categories will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the premiere. The film will then be distributed through our stores with over 1500 copies handed out and this year will see the film available for download online.
