Eyeball Snow Report: Les Saisies

Les Saisies – 16th-17th Jan 2010

The first day was good with a deep covering of snow over the whole resort. The pistes were in great condition and although the off piste had mainly been skied out there seemed to be ample snow covering all but the biggest rocks. Only one run was not open but the snow park remained closed, although it is coming together. Overnight nearly a foot of snow fell in the resort and higher up possibly more, providing a fantastic powder day. Early on most pistes were covered in powder and were great before being skied out and turning the powder into large moguls. However, as and when they are groomed they will be in superb condition. Off piste was also fantastic and the lower altitude provided the opportunity to do some skiing among the trees. Here the powder on top of the firm base meant no rocks or branches, just the top of small trees and bushes! With no snow forecast until later in the week conditions are likely to remain great on piste but the trees will soon be tracked out!
